Too often people avoid mental health assistance because they believe it is a sign of weakness. In fact, one of the greatest signs of emotional and mental maturity is the ability to reach out when help is needed.  The therapeutic journey is a very personal one, only you can determine how you will travel.  There are options for addressing concerns you have individually, about your relationships, or within your family.  Whether you are faced with seasonal depression, addiction, anxiety, a serious psychological challenge, actively working through past or present traumatic events, or supporting a family member, help is available.

Laura has more than 20 years of social work and counseling experience in various areas of trauma, crisis intervention, grief and loss, domestic violence, adolescent development, anxiety and depression.  Laura obtained her Master’s of Social Work through the Indiana University School of Social Work.  She received the Chancellor’s Scholar Award in 2010 and was inducted into the PHI ALPHA National Honor Society for Social Workers in May of 2012.  Laura is the owner of Encouraging Insight and a member of the IATP (International Association of Trauma Professionals).

“I believe in partnering with clients from a holistic approach to encourage a higher level of self-awareness of internal and external strengths to work through difficult circumstances. I choose to walk along side and my faith is my foundations in my work with clients. My passion is driven by their stories, tears and frustrations, and the hopefulness I see as they progress through healing. Personal growth has taught me that healing doesn’t have to equate to merely “surviving” from trauma, but growing beyond…to “thrive”.

If you are seeking help for yourself, a family member or loved one, or attempting to overcome a painful loss, there are options and support is available. Reaching out is the step that begins the process of creating hope…and…encouraging insight!
